BEST PORTFOLIO AWARD

Having a varied portfolio of entries showing skill and talent with a number of different techniques in the entries to the WildArt monthly categories is the key to success in the Best Portfolio Award. All images below ©Rob Read.

One of the things I’ve always been keen on with photographic competitions, is to reward consistency of skill and talent.

With most of the prizes in competitions being awarded to single photographs, there is always the possibility for a few ‘one hit wonders’ appearing amongst the winners. There is nothing wrong with that of course; if someone happened to be in the right place at the right time and made the most of the opportunity, then they deserve the success. But I think it is important to also ensure that a competition rewards those that have a varied portfolio of work, and this is where the WildArt Best Portfolio Award comes in.

This award will be decided upon by the WildArt judging panel who will look at a number of portfolios drawn from the entries into the various WildArt categories over the year. In order to be eligible for the award, you simply have to ensure that you enter one image or more into at least six of the competition’s monthly themed categories. You will see that these themes are designed to offer opportunities to photographers in all genres of wildlife photography with their diverse category remits.

A photographer that can consistently demonstrate a skilled and unique approach throughout at least six of these themes will do well. If the judges decide that your portfolio deserves recognition, then the prize of £1,500 will be yours together with the WildArt Best Portfolio of 2021 title.

Remember, our Best Portfolio Award is not a separate category, but you have to enter at least six of the ten monthly categories in 2021 to be eligible for this award.

Best of luck.
