What are the contest categories?

Who can enter?
The main Categories and Awards are open to all ages and nationalities.
Any entrant under 18 on the 31st October 2023 must gain the permission of a parent or guardian to enter the competition and should enter the WildArt Young Photographer of the Year section of the competition categories.
What are the prizes?

How many images can I enter?
You may enter as many images as you wish, subject to the payment of the required entry entry fee(s).
How much does it cost to enter?
There are various entry package options as indicated below. You may enter the competition as many times as you like and buy repeated entry packages.
£6 – One Image
£15 – Five Images
£20 – 10 Images
£35 - 20 Images
£45 - 30 Images
£65 - 50 Images
How many times can I enter?
You can enter as many times as you wish, subject to purchasing an additional entry package.
Can I withdraw or swap an image once I’ve entered it?
You cannot withdraw an image from the competition once you have confirmed its entry via our entry system. However, you may swap it to another of the categories which remain open for entries.
Do images have to be taken with a DSLR?
No. Images can be taken on any device capable of producing an image of at least 4 megapixels, including phones, GoPros, tablets, compact cameras and larger cameras such as DSLRs. Digital scans of images captured on film are also eligible.
Do images have to be taken in the United Kingdom?
No, WildArt Photographer of the Year is an international photography competition and you may enter photographs taken anywhere in the world.
Is there a time limit on when the images were taken?
No, images taken at any time are eligible for entry.
Can I submit retouched images?
There are some restrictions on the use of digital manipulation. Full guidelines on what image manipulation and retouching is allowed is provided in the competition rules.
Are images taken with camera traps allowed?
Yes. However, the judges will need to be satisfied that any image captured with a camera trap or other form of remotely triggered camera is the solely the product of the submitting photographer’s work in regard to location research and camera technical set up, and that they may rightly claim sole copyright for the image.
Can I crop my images?
Yes, you may crop your images. Please remember that you will be required to supply a file at least 2,500 pixels on the shortest side should your image/s be shortlisted for an award position.
How should I prepare my images for submission?

How do I resize my images for submission?
Images for initial submission should be a maximum of 4mb in size. For a guide on preparing images for initial submission using Photoshop or Lightroom, then check out our YouTube video here.
Why can’t I add a watermark to my images?
We ask that you do not add a watermark to your images as the judging process needs to remain anonymous at all times. Any image submitted with a watermark will be removed from the judging process during the first elimination round.
