About WildArt

WildArt is a wildlife and nature photography community and annual competition (WildArt Photographer of the Year) designed and developed by photographers, for photographers, and judged by photographers.

Those that are infected with the photography bug will know that wildlife photography is an all-consuming passion, a passion that digital technology has opened to thousands of people who had never picked up a camera before. That technology has enabled us all to take well-exposed, sharply focused images in situations we never thought possible only a short time ago. But what this technology can’t do is compose an image for us - that process remains entirely in our own hands, or more accurately, our creative brains. Through a community of photographers and its annual competition, WildArt seeks to encourage and inspire photographic creativity in the genre of wildlife and nature photography, helping to celebrate all forms of the natural world through the artistic visions that you, the photographers, create.

Nature and wildlife photography has the power to change lives for the better, not only by making the wonder of nature accessible to so many, but by improving awareness of conservation issues across the globe. Photography competitions can play a huge and important role in that process, and inspiring people to care is a vital gateway to conserving what’s left of our planet.

The WildArt Photographer of the Year competition is open to all ages and nationalities, and to everyone from hardened pros to keen amateurs and hobbyists. WildArt isn’t necessarily obsessed with the biggest, the rarest or the most exotic species, it cares about the art of the image and it seeks to encourage and reward original, creative and artistic approaches, whether that image is taken with a smartphone or the latest mirrorless magician.

I am passionate about inspiring others to expand their photographic horizons and embrace fresh approaches to photography with the aim of unlocking the inner artist in all of us. WildArt is a community and competition that I hope will provide that learning and inspiration to a fresh generation of photographers who see things through a different lens to the norm.
